Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs: will implement three measures to promote the transformation of food and agricultural system

Xie Jianmin, a first-level inspector of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said on the 17th that he would implement three measures to promote the transformation of the food and agricultural system.
Xie Jianmin made the above statement at the press conference of the 2021 Rural Development Report jointly held by the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the China Agricultural Policy Research Center of Peking University on the 17th.
He said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to food and agricultural production, and has always made solving the problem of food a top priority in the governance of the country. It has solved the problem of food for more than 1.4 billion people with less than 9% of the arable land, making a great contribution to world food security. In the new era and new journey, China will promote the transformation of the food and agricultural system with stronger measures and joint efforts of all parties.
First, adhere to the principle of "storing grain on the ground and technology", lay a solid foundation for seeds and cultivated land, and do everything possible to stabilize grain production. At the same time, we should consolidate and improve the security level of important agricultural products, expand the planting of soybean oil, focus on the production of rape and peanut oil, ensure the stable supply of vegetables, livestock, eggs, milk and aquatic products and other "vegetable basket" products, and firmly stabilize the Chinese people's jobs.
The second is to promote conservation farming on a larger scale, comprehensively promote the "ten year ban on fishing" in the Yangtze River, build a leading area for agricultural green development, develop water-saving agriculture and dryland agriculture, promote the reduction and efficiency of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and promote agricultural carbon emission reduction and green development.
Third, we will increase support for industrial upgrading, mass employment and public services in poverty-stricken areas, firmly hold the bottom line of no large-scale return to poverty, optimize rural characteristic industries, strengthen the construction of rural ecological civilization, and promote the integrated development of urban and rural areas.
